I am a young, healthy freelancer in New York and had to obtain my own insurance. An unexpected emergency situation occurred a few months ago and now I need a procedure. So far they have avoided calls and I have called nearly 8 times and my doctor has also called a few times- they have rejected this procedure. My doctor called several times to plead my case and apparently the Medical Director has not given a sufficient reason as to why my procedure has been denied. I also was not able to take life-saving medication for a couple of days because they had also rejected my prescription claim which I finally obtained after much hassle. I am seriously considering to place a lawsuit against them. They are delaying an urgent procedure that is endangering my long-term outcome and cannot see how this is acceptable due to codes. I am also looking into possible media outlets to help get the care I need.
