My wife and I were covered under her employer's employee benefits. We had Aetna PPO coverage in the past. When she went out on long-term disability, we went onto Cobra coverage @ $1,053.00 per month which included a small premium for dental and vision coverage. When Federal Cobra ended and we moved over to California Cobra, the premium increased to $1,548.71 largely due to her disability-related increased costs. When mywife became eligible for Medicare in July, rather than the $503 monthly premium I was quoted to continue my Cal-Cobra coverage, because she was disabled and primary on our Federal Cobra coverage, I had to continue under the disabled cost premium. I ama not the one disabled however, Aetna said that's the way Cobra works. Although the coverage is great, this premium is way too high I feel I'm being punished for my wife's disability..
